Application Methodology

Step No 1: Substrate Preparation

Substrate must be smooth, sound and free of voids or gaps more than 10mm. Proper filling with self-flowing grout is recommended around all penetrations for stability.

For horizontal surfaces, PCC or monolithic concrete binding is preferred. An angular profile is recommended. Remove all protrusions and clean up the substrate. Ensure there is no standing water on the surface during application.

Step No 2: Membrane Installation

Horizontal Surface

Fastening through the selvedge using a small and low-profile head fastener so that the membrane lays flat and allows firmly rolled overlaps.

Ensure the underside of the succeeding sheet is clean, dry and free from contamination before attempting to overlap. Roll firmly to ensure a watertight seal.

Overlap all roll ends and cut edges by a minimum of 75 mm. Ensure the area is clean and free from contamination, wiping with a damp cloth if necessary.

Allow to dry and apply AquaArm PowerPrufe 800 centered over the lap edges and roll firmly.

Place the membrane HDPE film side to the substrate with the granular layer facing toward the concrete pour. End laps should be staggered to avoid a build-up of layers.

Penetration Sealing

Grout around penetration to hold tight and seal around the pipe with PowerPrufe DST Tape and WPU liquid PU membrane.

Sheet Overlap

Accurately position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous sheet by 75 mm along the marked selvedge. Ensure the underside is clean, dry, and free from contamination before overlapping.

Pile Head Sealing

Prepare a smooth pile head with non-shrink cementitious grout. Once fully dried, seal the top of the pile head with ArmGrout EP78 up to 8–10 mm thickness.

Peel back the plastic release liner from between the overlaps as the two layers are bonded together. Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and roll firmly with a heavy roller.

At the end laps, remove all floating granules from the waterproofing membrane using a brush or granule removing gun. Apply twin-sided tape (PowerPrufe DST Tape) by peeling off the release film and fixing the tape completely without creases.

Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases and roll firmly with a roller. Any initial tack will quickly disappear.

Vertical Application

Mechanically fasten the membrane vertically using fasteners appropriate to the substrate with the granule surface facing toward the concrete pour, in the case of negative side application and single-sided shutter system. The membrane may be installed in any convenient length.

Membrane Repair

A thorough investigation should be conducted during installation to avoid creases at the selvedge and to ensure proper bonding at joints. Inspection should be carried out before laying of reinforcement steel and again before final placement of concrete.

If concrete accidentally falls onto the membrane in areas where reinforcement is not laid and concrete is not yet planned, it must be cleaned as soon as possible. PowerPrufe membrane can be cleaned with a damp cloth or by water jetting.

Identify the damaged area and mark it with a marker during installation. Clean the identified area, remove granules around it, and apply PowerPrufe DST Tape. Remove the release liner before applying.

Concrete Pouring

It is recommended to pour concrete within 45 days of membrane application. The concrete should be compacted carefully to avoid damaging the membrane.

Storage and Shelf Life
