Application Methodology
Step No 1: Substrate Preparation
Substrate must be smooth, sound and free of voids or gaps more than 10mm. Proper filling with self-flowing grout is recommended around all penetrations for stability.
For horizontal surfaces, PCC or monolithic concrete binding is preferred. An angular profile is recommended. Remove all protrusions and clean the substrate. Ensure there is no standing water on the surface during application.
Step No 2: Membrane Installation
Horizontal Surface
Fasten through the selvedge using a small, low-profile head fastener to ensure the membrane lays flat and allows firmly rolled overlaps.
Ensure the underside of the succeeding sheet is clean, dry, and free from contamination before attempting to overlap. Roll firmly to ensure a watertight seal.
Overlap all roll ends and cut edges by a minimum of 100 mm. Ensure the area is clean and free from contamination, wiping with a damp cloth if necessary. Allow to dry and apply AquaArm PowerPrufe 900 (W) centered over the lap edges and roll firmly.
Place the membrane with the HDPE film side to the substrate and the granular layer facing towards the concrete pour. End laps should be staggered to avoid a build-up of layers.
Penetration Sealing
Grout around the penetration to hold tight to the pipe and seal around it using AquaArm Duct Tape and WPU liquid PU membrane.
Sheet Overlap
Accurately position succeeding sheets to overlap the previous sheet by 100 mm along the marked selvedge. Ensure the underside is clean, dry, and free of contamination before overlapping.
Pile Head Sealing
Prepare a smooth pile head with non-shrink cementitious grout. Once fully dried, seal the top of the pile head with ArmGrout Epoxy Grout or screed as per approved methodology.
The 100 mm overlaps should be welded using an automatic or manual welding machine to ensure watertight sealing. At end laps, remove all floating granules using a granule-removing gun, clean the joint properly, and weld using a hot air welding gun.
Ensure a continuous bond is achieved without creases, and roll firmly with a roller. Any initial tack will quickly disappear.
Vertical Application
Mechanically fasten the membrane vertically using suitable fasteners for the substrate. Ensure the granule surface faces the concrete pour (negative side or single-shutter system). The membrane can be installed in any convenient length.
Membrane Repair
Conduct a thorough investigation during installation to avoid creases at selvedges and ensure proper bonding at joints. Perform an inspection before laying reinforcement steel and another before the final concrete placement.
If concrete accidentally falls onto the membrane where reinforcement is not yet placed, clean it immediately. The PowerPrufe membrane can be cleaned using a damp cloth or water jetting.
Membrane Damage
Identify the damaged area and mark it with a marker during installation. Clean the area and remove the granules around it. Weld a new piece of sheet with a 100 mm overlap on all sides.
Concrete Pouring
It is recommended to pour concrete within 45 days of membrane application. Compact the concrete carefully to avoid damaging the membrane.
Storage and Shelf Life
- Best before 12 months from the date of manufacture, when stored in cool and dry place at original, unopened condition.
