Description
ESSRBOND PU 40 is a single-component, non-sag PU sealant specially formulated for moving joints in construction. It cures with moisture to create a strong, flexible, and weather-resistant seal. Suitable for tropical climates, it delivers excellent adhesion and long-term durability.

Application Area
- ESSRBOND PU 40 is designed for sealing expansion and control joints, pre-cast concrete panel joints, window perimeters, steps, risers, roof and tilt-wall joints and between construction materials of dissimilar expansion coefficients.
- It is ideal for sealing in the food industry and clean rooms where LOW VOC sealant is recommended.

Application Methodology
- Ensure joint sides are clean and dry. Remove any laitance, dirt or other contaminants by wire-brushing, grinding or grit blasting.
- Priming is not generally required. Highly absorbent substrate should be primed. ESSRBOND PU Primer should be used. Apply a thin coat of primer on the substrate to be sealed and allow to dry for some time.
- Insert the sealant sausage in the sausage gun. Cut end off sachet and attach cap and nozzle and cut nozzle to desired bead size. Mask joint sides and insert a suitable backing rod if required. Extrude firmly into joint and tool off using a suitable curved tool. Tool the sealant immediately with tooling knife by pressing against the joint to remove air pockets & to ensure 100% contact and adhesion with the surface.
- Fix a bond breaker tape over the backup material to prevent third surface adhesion. Fix a masking tape on both sides of joint surface to get neat & clean appearance of joints after application of sealant. Use only water (or a very mild detergent) to finish the surface.
Precautions & Limitations
- Maximum width for application in a joint is 50 mm
- Minimum depth of seal is 6 mm
- Do not expose the sealant to high temperatures above 110 deg C
- Avoid application on damp and moist substrates and at Temperature below 5°C
- Sealant will not adhere to substrates with contamination and traces of bitumen
- Adhesion of the sealant must only be on two opposite faces
- Do not carry out sealing operations during hot weather conditions
- Application to be started only after 30 minutes of priming the substrate
Storage and Shelf Life
- Best before 12 months from the date of manufacture, when stored in cool and dry place at original, unopened condition.
