Description

Birla Opus Prime B90 is an ultra-luxury, liquid-applied waterproof coating made with acrylic–PU hybrid polymers. It offers excellent crack-bridging, high durability, and protects concrete and masonry surfaces from positive hydrostatic pressure up to 12 bar, preventing water leakage.

Application Methodology

Surface Preparation :

New masonry surfaces must be cured for minimum 28 days with proper water curing. Surface must be free from dust, loose paint, grease, algae, fungus, or moss. Clean chalky surfaces and apply Birla Opus AllDry Salt Seal before coating if required. Fill cracks up to 5 mm using Birla Opus crack filler. Repair larger cracks or hollow areas with polymer-modified mortar. Ensure proper slope on terraces to avoid water stagnation.

Waterproof Coating Application :

Dilute 1 litre of B90 with 300–350 ml water and apply the first coat. Allow to dry for 4–6 hours. Apply second coat undiluted, allow drying for 4–6 hours

Top Coat Application :

Horizontal Surfaces: Apply an additional perpendicular coat of undiluted B90. Allow it to dry for 4-6 hrs.

Vertical Surfaces: Apply texture (optional), followed by 2–3 coats of Birla Opus Prime Exterior topcoat, allowing 4–6 hours between each coat.

Curing & Testing :

Allow 7 days air curing before conducting a ponding test.
Ponding test : 5 cm water height for 24 hours to ensure leak-free surface

Safety & Precautions :

  • Refer to MSDS for detailed safety guidance
  • Wear eye protection during application
  • In case of eye or skin contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Harmful if swallowed; seek medical attention immediately
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from children and food items

Limitations :

  • Do not apply if temperature is below 10°C or above 45°C
  • o not apply on wet or damp surfaces or when humidity exceeds 80%
  • Do not apply if rain is expected within 48 hours
  • Ensure no stagnant water remains on the surface
  • Designed for foot traffic only, not vehicular or machinery movement

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Best before 36 months from the date of manufacture, when stored in cool and dry place at original, unopened condition.
