Application Methodology

Step No 1: Surface Preparation

Surface needs to be cleaned by wire brushing followed by vacuum cleaning so that the surface is free of any loose particles, dust, laitance, mould release agents, and curing compounds. Water jetting is not recommended.

All cracks should be treated with Rearm SBR modified mortar. Surface is allowed to self-cure for 24 hours. Ensure the moisture content of the surface is below 5% before priming.

Step No 2: Fillet Preparation

Horizontal and vertical angle joints need to be prepared with 50x50mm concave fillet using concrete admixed with AquaArm Proof WP10 @ 150 g/50 Kg bag of cement.

Fillet should be cured to gain strength and completely dry before primer application.

As an alternative to conventional methods, the AquaArm Aso Joint Tape system can be opted for fillet and pipe penetration sealings. For details, please contact the MYK Arment technical team.

Pipe Penetration Sealing

Clean around pipe penetrations and seal the junction with low viscous solvent-free epoxy ArmGrout Epoxy IG admixed with silica sand.

Step No 3: Priming

Epoxy-based AquaArm Ultra Primer, a two-component primer, is recommended before application of AquaArm WPU Ultra. Mix both components of the primer and apply by brush on cleaned concrete.

Pot life of the mixed primer is only 30 minutes. Allow the primer to dry for 4-5 hours.

Apply the waterproofing coating AquaArm WPU Ultra when the primer is tacky. If the primer fully dries, re-priming needs to be done.

Step No 4: Product Application

Prior to application, thoroughly mix the contents of the container using a slow-speed stirrer at 300 rpm. Care should be taken to scrape the sides and bottom of the container with the mixer. Do not add solvent, thinners, or water at any time.

After mixing, immediately apply AquaArm WPU Ultra over the tacky primer while ensuring a continuous coating of uniform thickness. A lambs wool roller is recommended for such application. A brush may be used for touch-up, edging work, or areas unsuitable for roller application.

AquaArm WPU Ultra must be applied all along the angle fillets, corners, and joints around pipes, conduits, etc. Apply AquaArm WPU Ultra on surrounding walls up to a height of minimum 300 mm from Finished Floor Level (FFL). Always apply in two coats to avoid pinholes.

The second coat can be applied after the first coat has dried (12 – 16 hours @ 25°C), depending on the ambient and surface temperature.

To ensure mechanical bonding for protection plaster, graded sand should be sprinkled while the coating is still tacky.

Step No 5: Protection with Screed

Prior to laying the protection screed, use a separation barrier of 160 gsm Geo Textile. A screed of more than 50 mm should be applied as per slope requirements.

For vertical applications, a 15–20 mm plaster layer is recommended.

For protection during backfill and where hydrostatic pressure is expected, such as in retaining wall applications, use an appropriate drain board system (e.g., EPS Board or dimple sheet).

Health & Safety

  • Use appropriate PPE including coveralls, goggles, gloves, and a respiratory mask. Ensure application is carried out in well-ventilated areas and avoid inhaling vapours. Keep out of reach of children.
  • In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. For skin contact, wash the affected area thoroughly. If inhaled, move to fresh air. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; drink water or milk and seek medical help immediately.
  • Non-flammable material. Do not use solvents for cleaning eyes or skin.

Limitations

Do not apply on new concrete surfaces before a minimum curing period of 28 days. Avoid application when temperatures are above 40°C or below 5°C. Do not apply on wet or damp surfaces, and do not proceed if rain is expected within the next 24 hours.

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Best before 6 months from the date of manufacture, when stored in cool and dry place at original, unopened condition.
