Description

MARISEAL® 275 is a single component pure polyurethane based liquid applied membrane which cures with reaction with ground and air moisture to provide a durable elastomeric waterproof surace. Designed for use over horizontal and verical suraces, it must be covered by protective screed or plaster.

Features and Benefits

  • When applied, forms a seamless, vapor permeable (breathable) elastomeric membrane resistant to water.
  • High elongation and tensile strength.
  • Can be applied on vertical and horizontal surfaces.
  • Excellent crack bridging ability.
  • Wide service temperature range from -30°C to 90°C.
  • Provides a fully bonded coating with excellent adhesion to concrete, metal or bitumen surfaces.
  • Ideal for waterproofing new roofs and for refurbishment.

Application Area

  • RCC roofs (hardscape).
  • Podiums.
  • Green roofs (Landscape areas) with root resistance
    properties.
  • Balconies, wet areas, suspended floors.
  • Protection of polyurethane insulation foam.
  • Retaining walls.
  • Any complex area which requires detail waterproofing.

Application Methodology

Surface Preparation

Careful surface preparation is essential for optimum finish and durability.

Cementitious Surface
  • All surfaces must be structurally sound, dry, free of any laitance or loosely held particles that will affect the adhesion of the waterproofing membrane.
  • New concrete surfaces must be min 28 days old with strength of 20 MPa, pull off strength > 1.5 MPa when tested as per ASTM D903 and moisture less than 5%.
  • All old, loose coating, foreign materials, dust must be removed by mechanical grinding machine. All dust from grinding must be thoroughly removed.
  • Any loose or hollow surface found must be broken up and must be repaired with polymer modified mortar.
  • Any high spots of iron rebars must be carefully grinded to a smooth uniform surface.
Bituminous Substrate
  • Carefully inspect the old bituminous surface for any air pockets or any loosely held surface. All loosely held surface must be removed mechanically.
  • Any water contained in the pockets must be removed and surface must be allowed to dry naturally.
Metal Surface
  • Surfaces must be dry, clean and free from contaminants.
  • Using mechanical grinder, ensure removal of dirt, dust, oil and all other contaminants that could interfere with adhesion of primer.
  • Coat the treated surface immediately with epoxy primer.
Crack Repair
  • Careful sealing of cracks and joints before application is extremely important for long lasting waterproofing.
  • Small cracks should be open out with mechanical tool, cleaned with vacuum cleaner, primed with epoxy primer weberprim Epox 501 and filled with epoxy mortar.
  • After 3 hours, apply a coat of Mariseal® 275, 250 mm wide centered over the treated crack and while wet, cover with Mariseal® Fabric 65 200 mm wide. Press it firmly to soak. Saturate the Mariseal® Fabric 65 with ample quantity of Mariseal® 275, until it is fully covered. Allow it to dry for 12 hours to cure completely.
Primer
  • Apply a coat of weberprim Epox 501, as primer for good and long-lasting adhesion.
  • Mix the two components in designated ratio and apply same with a roller.
  • Dry patches may be observed on concrete if surface is porous. In such a case, application of additional coat of weberprim Epox 501 is recommended.
  • Wait 4-5 hours for the primer to surface dry before application of subsequent coat.
Waterproofing Membrane
Product preparation
  • After opening the bucket, mix the material with a mechanical stirrer until a homogeneous mixture is formed.
  • Ensure to scrap the sides and bottom of the container with the stirrer.
  • Do not add any solvent or any foreign material under any circumstances.
Application
  • Pour Mariseal® 275 onto primed surface and spread it uniformly with onto the surface with brush or roller.
  • For detail areas like floor wall joints, 90° Angles, pipes, waterspouts, etc reinforcement with Mariseal® fabric is recommended.
  • In order to do that, apply a correct piece of Mariseal® Fabric while the coat of Mariseal® 275 is still wet, press it to soak and saturate the applied fabric with another coat of Mariseal® 275.
  • After 12 -26 hours apply another coat of Mariseal® 275.
  • For demanding applications, applications of additional coat of Mariseal® 275 may be recommended.
Protection
  • If Mariseal® 275 is to be covered with tiles, broadcast silica sand of size 0.4 mm – 0.8 mm evenly on surface while the final coat is wet. The textured surface will give proper anchoring for fixing tiles with suitable tile adhesive.
  • If Mariseal® 275 is to be covered with sloping screed, place a 160 GSM geotextile fabric as a separation layer over cured membrane. Place M-20 grade concrete with slope of 1:100 with proper slope towards the drain outlets.

Precautions & Limitations

  • For best results, the temperature during application must be between 10°C and 35°C.
  • Do not apply more than 0.8 kg / sq mt in a single coat application.
  • Make sure the applied coats do not get wet before complete curing.
  • Parapet walls should also be coated atleast to a height of 1 with Mariseal® 275.
  • Mariseal® 275 should not be le exposed to sunlight for more than 14 days since final coat. It must be covered with tiles or protective screed

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Best before 12 months from the date of manufacture, when stored in cool and dry place at original, unopened condition.
